The latest Man Utd transfer news with a midfielder expected to leave the club this month.

The Tigers were 'quietly confident' they would sign Collyer on a season-long loan in the summer, only for the 22-year-old to join fellow Championship side West Brom instead. It is understood former United head of loans and pathways Jonny Evans played a key role in convincing the youngster to join his previous club instead.

Collyer only made 12 appearances for West Brom during an injury-stricken spell and was recalled from his loan earlier this to continue rehabilitation from a calf injury. It is understood the England youth international is now close to full fitness again and will be allowed to leave on loan for the second-half of the campaign.

Hull City keen on Collyer move

Hull City remain interested in a move for Toby Collyer after he turned them down in the summer. The only catch for Manchester United is that the Tigers are unable to pay transfer or loan fees due to current transfer restrictions placed on the club.

Speaking last week, Hull boss Sergej Jakirović confirmed his side were still interested in Collyer and were even confident he would complete a move this month. "We have an option to bring Collyer from Man United, so we will see," Jakirovic told reporters. "We spoke already this summer. It was a very nice conversation together with Jonny Evans at that time, who was the loan manager (at United), but at that time, he chose West Brom, which is OK I respect that.

"Maybe he didn't believe that we would have a good season, and have a good team. It was tricky back then, when you have an embargo, you cannot bring the players. Also, you must look after yourself because you need the minutes, and maybe in our team it's easier to get the minutes."

When quizzed on Collyer's recent injury issues, the Hull boss added: "He's fine now. He had a calf injury as well. He's a young player, and he's capable of playing in the six or eight position. He can run 12K every game, so I think that he can help us, we can help him, and I think he will fit in the team good."

Collyer made 13 appearances for the United first team last season after he made his competitive debut for the club in the Community Shield defeat to Man City under Erik ten Hag. United sources initially stated Collyer could remain at the club for the remainder of the season, but he is now expected to be allowed to leave.
