Manchester United overhauled the attack last summer with three big additions, but Rio Ferdinand still thinks one forward would definitely join the club.
Last season saw Manchester United’s primary weakness come in terms of scoring goals, and Ineos took decisive action to amend this.
Alongside Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha, United also spent £66m on Benjamin Sesko, with the Slovenian bagging three goals in his last two games.
However, despite Sesko being the future, there is still a likelihood that Ineos wants to reinforce this position next summer to add depth to the striking department, with Rio Ferdinand naming one possibility.

Rio Ferdinand thinks Manchester United could easily sign Victor Osimhen
In recent months, United have been linked with Jean-Philippe Mateta as a possible short-term solution up front.
Another possibility could be reviving the interest in signing Victor Osimhen, who could be sold by Galatasaray, albeit for a costly £121m according to Turkiye Today.

Speaking on the Rio Ferdinand Presents YouTube channel, while interviewing Ghana legend Asamoah Gyan, Ferdinand agreed that Osimhen should join United.

“Victor Osimhen, he loves scoring goals, he plays with his heart, and gives everything. I’m surprised big clubs didn’t go for him in this transfer window. Hopefully, I’m feeling Manchester United too, only if he wants to come because of their history and everything,” Gyan said.
Ferdinand then responded, “Osimhen will come to United, if United offer to take Osimhen, he would go, 100%.”
“That is the type of striker we need right now, we have Mbeumo on the side doing what he needs to do,” Gyan then added in conclusion.
Signing Osimhen as a player to rotate with Sesko would be a move that gives United the best striking duo in the league, although it might be overkill.

Osimhen has missed the chance to join Manchester United
For years, Osimhen was viewed as a potential signing for United and for good reason, sitting as one of Europe’s best forwards, but this move is now very unlikely.
This is because Sesko has started to impress for United, reaching the five-goal mark for the club, with his performances following Ruben Amorim’s departure the best yet.
Ineos spent a massive fee on Sesko, and they aren’t going to want to backtrack on that faith by spending more big money on Osimhen, who is just 27.
Mateta is a much more plausible target for United in 2026.
