Man Utd have just brought in 'truly unbelievable' asset, they do not know how lucky they are, claims ex-pro

Manchester United were forced into an overhaul after sacking Ruben Amorim, and a temporary set up is now in place until the end of the season.

Michael Carrick’s appointment was confirmed earlier this week after the club legend won over Ineos during a round of interviews.

Once it was agreed that Michael Carrick would take over, the club had to thrash out who would be on his coaching staff, and hires were quickly made in time to lead the first training session.

While the sight of Jonathan Woodgate in Manchester United gear looks a little odd, seeing Steve Holland take the lead is quite refreshing.

Holland has several decades worth of experience in the game, he is a vastly knowledgeable coach who has even worked as Chelsea caretaker boss. Most recently he has been the England assistant manager under Gareth Southgate, working with the country’s best players.

Steve Holland praised

Steve Holland is bringing his vast experience to Manchester United, and he is the exact type of coach you want available in this situation the club finds itself in.

Carrick is in at the deep end with a squad that has lost some confidence, heading into huge fixtures against City and Arsenal. Holland will be a valuable asset to help the head coach set his plans into motion.

One message from a top coach on Instagram shows high admiration for Holland and what he will bring to Manchester United.

Mark Rees has worked with Manchester City and Blackburn Rovers, also working one-to-one with Phil Foden. And his post about Holland makes the claim that the Red Devils have a top asset in place.

He writes: “Manchester United FC @manutd do not know how lucky they are to have this man ☝️sharing his knowledge , wisdom and experience with the players at the club at this time of transition .

“Steve Holland is one of the best football coaches in the world and a person I have personally worked with, been coached by and also learnt so much over the years as a player and coach .

“His level of coaching is truly unbelievable and also how he motivates and inspires every player he cross paths with .

“Some people in this world do things differently, their manner, their presence locks people in to how they communicate exceptional knowledge .

I hope everyone knows they have a coach who can develop them like no other ! His accolades , achievements are no luck for sure ! Good luck Steve.”

Steve Holland’s journey

Steve Holland began his coaching career with Crewe Alexandra in 1992 under the tutelage of Dario Gradi, following a brief spell as a player.

Holland worked his way up at Crewe from academy coach to manager, before leaving in 2008.

He then had a brief stint with Stoke City in their academy before spending two seasons leading Chelsea’s reserve team.

In 2011 Holland stepped up to become Chelsea assistant manager and ended up working under six different managers; Andre Villas-Boas, Roberto di Matteo, Rafa Benitez, Jose Mourinho, Guus Hiddink and Antonio Conte. During this time he briefly stepped in to lead as caretaker boss.

Working under Mourinho is something he has in common with Carrick, who began his coaching career under the Portuguese boss at Manchester United in 2018.

Over the past decade he has been working as England assistant under Gareth Southgate until 2024, in which time he worked with current United stars Mason Mount, Luke Shaw, Harry Maguire and Kobbie Mainoo.
