Man Utd will let the youngster leave on loan again in the January transfer window.
Sheffield Wednesday are somewhere between 'hopeful and confident' they will reach an agreement to sign Harry Amass on loan for the second half of the season.
Manchester United defender Amass impressed during 21 appearances for Wednesday during the first half of the campaign, but saw his deal come to an end earlier in the month. It is understood there is serious interest from a host of rival Championship clubs in a potential loan move, with no final decision made on his immediate future.
Stoke City and Watford are two of the clubs higher in the Championship table who are also keen on a loan move for Amass, though neither of them can prove they will give the teenager as much playing time as he had at Wednesday. United would like the 18-year-old to play at the highest level possible, though they don't want to risk the regular playing time he had during the first half of the season.

Amass set for new United contract
Another key factor in Harry Amass' future is that Manchester United are keen to offer him a new contract, something they could aim to do before he leaves on his second loan spell of the season. It is a case of when, not if, he departs on loan this month, but United would like to protect their long-term interest in the player with an improved contract.
Speaking earlier in the week, Sheffield Wednesday manager Henrik Pedersen provided an update on Harry Amass and reiterated his side were still 'hopeful' a deal can be reached. “With Harry there is good communication, but we’ve not finalised anything. So in the end I don’t know where that will end, but I’m still positive," he told reporters.
“I think I’m between hopeful and confident about it. It’s more than just hope, because there is also a belief that it can happen. But there are still many circumstances in the big picture, however I have hope and belief that it can still happen. So let’s see how things go in the next few days. I hope that there will be a decision soon, because otherwise we have to think what we will do instead of him."
Although Amass joined Wednesday on an initial season-long loan, it expired on January 5 due to a break clause, so United could decide whether he should remain at Hillsborough or return to Manchester and join another club for the second half of the season. United agreed to cover the costs of his loan in exchange for guaranteed game time, but could allow him to join another Championship club that would offer both game time and a financial incentive. Club sources insist the ultimate factor is the promise of regular football, something Wednesday have already proven they can offer him.
