Crystal Palace are interested in signing Juventus striker Jonathan David in a swap deal involving Jean-Philippe Mateta, according to reports in Italy.
The Selhurst Park side have reportedly proposed a deal that would see Mateta move to Italy and David head the other way, amid Juventus’ interest in the French striker.
The Bianconeri are claimed to have rebuffed Palace’s offer, as they see Mateta as a potential replacement for Dusan Vlahovic, whose contract expires at the end of the season.
David only joined Juventus last summer from Ligue 1 side Lille and has scored five times in his first 26 appearances for the Italian club.

According to reports in Italy, Juventus have already held preliminary talks for Mateta but have ruled out involving David in any potential swap deal.
The Serie A giants are reportedly looking for a new striker in January to boost Luciano Spalletti’s squad and have earmarked Mateta as one of their primary targets.
David joined Juventus on a free transfer in July, following an impressive five-year stint at Lille, where he netted 109 goals in 232 appearances across all competitions.
The £250,000-a-week Canada international also impressed in last season’s Champions League, scoring seven times and registering two assists in 10 appearances.
While David has been described as ‘one of the best strikers in the world’, the 26-year-old has struggled to replicate his numbers at Juventus this season.
He endured a 16-game goalless run in Serie A before scoring in back-to-back wins over Sassuolo and Cremonese earlier this month.

With captain Marc Guehi now in advanced talks to join Manchester City and Mateta emerging as a target for Juventus, losing both of their key players in the same window would represent a huge blow for Palace and manager Oliver Glasner.
Mateta has been the Eagles’ top scorer for the past three Premier League seasons, netting 38 goals since the start of the 2023/24 campaign.
The Frenchman has 10 goals in 32 appearances this season but has endured a poor run over the last six weeks, scoring only once in his last nine league matches.
