Demetrio Albertini’s powerful verdict on Scott McTominay after the former Napoli ace’s midfield impact

McTominay became the first Scottish player in history to scoop the Serie A Footballer of the Year accolade and Demetrio Albertini waxed lyrical about him as a midfielder.

Albertini fell short of calling McTominay the best midfielder in the world, but he was not afraid to put the Scotland ace ‘up there’ with other big players in football.

“I don’t know if he’s the best in Europe, but he’s certainly among the best,” he added.

McTominay had spent his entire football career, both club and youth level, with Man Utd before his switch to Serie A side Napoli in 2024.
