Michael Carrick has made a return to Manchester United, stepping in as head coach for the remainder of the season. The ex-captain was unveiled as Ruben Amorim's temporary replacement on Tuesday evening, with his first match against Manchester City this afternoon.
The former Middlesbrough manager had been out of work since being dismissed by Boro in June 2024. He led the Championship side to the play-offs in his debut season and also steered them to the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup in 2023/24.
Describing his return to Old Trafford as an "unbelievable feeling", Carrick said: "It's been part of my life for so long. The fact that I left the club for a number of years recently has never really left me, you know. I'm quickly focused on doing the job."
The 44-year-old will be supported by a team of backroom staff, all aiming to help United ascend the Premier League table - but who are they?
Here, provides details about some of the personnel Carrick will depend on to ensure his interim stint at United is successful.

One of four assistant coaches will be former defender Travis Binnion. The 39-year-old previously worked as the main coach for United's Under-21s and was the academy's head of player development and coaching.
It's understood that Binnion will strive to maintain a strong connection between the academy and the first-team squad throughout the interim period.
Before Carrick's announcement, the former Sheffield United player had already been lending his support to the senior squad and had assisted Darren Fletcher in matches against Burnley and Brighton.

Steve Holland is best known for his role as Gareth Southgate's assistant manager for the England national team. He was awarded an MBE for his services to football in 2022, following England's appearance in the Euro 2020 final against Italy, which they lost on penalties.
However, Holland is perhaps most remembered for his alleged altercation with Arsenal defender Ben White during the World Cup in Qatar. The Athletic reported that the pair clashed after Southgate's deputy accused the centre-back of failing to absorb the tactics and training data he was sharing with the team.
Holland also highlighted that White acknowledged he had little interest in football outside of his own playing career. In November 2022, he said: "Sitting down and watching a 90-minute game after I've trained all day and had four or five meetings about football, the last thing I want to do is watch more football."
White departed the England camp early during the World Cup and hasn't represented his country since, having declined the chance to be selected again in 2024.
Holland also had stints at Crewe Alexandra, Chelsea and Yokohama F. Marinos.

Jonathan Woodgate worked with Carrick during his period at Middlesbrough, where he launched his professional career. Woodgate also took charge of Boro following a stint as caretaker manager before moving to Bournemouth.
Throughout his playing days, the centre-back represented clubs including Leeds, Newcastle, and Tottenham, and even spent three years at Real Madrid. Yet his debut will be remembered for all the wrong reasons, as Woodgate netted an own goal in the opening half and received his marching orders after the interval for a second booking.
Woodgate's career was plagued by fitness problems and he featured just 14 times in Spain before returning to Middlesbrough.
Now the England international will link up with Carrick on the touchline as one of his first-team coaches.
