Roy Keane has once again ruthlessly dismantled the new Manchester United coaching group and branded his old club a 'circus'. Michael Carrick was chosen to replace the sacked Ruben Amorim, and his new set-up includes Steve Holland, Jonathan Woodgate, Jonny Evans and Travis Binnion.

Speaking on the Stick to Football podcast earlier this week, Keane criticised United for appointing Evans as a first-team coach. And speaking live on Sky Sports in the build-up to Saturday’s derby, Keane not only took aim at Evans once again but also revealed he had concerns about Carrick taking the role.

“I'm more concerned with the appointment and the staff that have come in,” he said. “But I think I would be like that with most people at this stage of the season.

“Looking at the group of players they have, it is going to be a big ask. You look at Michael Carrick, his remit at Middlesbrough was to get promoted, he didn’t do that, so you could say he failed there.

“But it doesn't mean to say he is a bad manager. That was a difficult job. It is great for him, but I look at the staff he has brought in and we sit here every week and talk about Man United being the best of the best and at this moment in time I don’t see that, even with the appointment and the staff, but that doesn't mean to say they can’t get results.

"It's a great opportunity for him and his staff, but of course I'm concerned, but I said that about the previous manager.”

Before Keane continued: "It just seems a bit of a circus act at the moment. But if they start well and get momentum, I still think there's a great chance for the team to get in the Champions League, which has got to be the aim!"
