Winners
First, the winners.
Kobbie Mainoo: This performance from Mainoo has vindicated all those who were desperate to see the 20-year-old freed from Ruben Amorim.

Winning duels, knocking the ball around nicely, and showing complete composure to dribble his way around the midfield.

Bryan Mbeumo: Back from AFCON and back among the goals, Mbeumo grabbed his eighth of the season to put the Red Devils ahead.
Mbeumo could have scored more than one, but his goal was massive at the time and finally broke the deadlock after a dominant performance, which could have ended up being a four or five-nil win.
Massive performance, one which could be about to kick start a run of form.
Patrick Dorgu: Another game on the wing for Dorgu, and he was once again very impressive, grabbing a goal in the process.
With United looking for left-wing reinforcements, the Danish talent is quietly locking down his position as the starter on that side.
Was that Patrick Dorgu’s best game in a Manchester United shirt?

Lisandro Martinez: Before the game, Nicky Butt questioned Martinez as he claimed Erling Haaland would dominate.
However, it was the opposite that actually happened, with Martinez making easy work of the City attack and keeping a clean sheet.
Massive performance from the Argentine.
Senne Lammens: While not called into action a lot against City, Lammens will still leave Old Trafford as a winner, having kept a clean sheet.
Clean sheets have been difficult for United to attain this season, so this is one to savour and shows we might finally start to see a strong defence going forward.
Lammens will be thrilled to finally have a system not conceding so many big chances.
Michael Carrick: The dream start for Carrick as United interim boss, and the kind of performance that suggests he might make a serious claim for the permanent role.
Carrick looked thrilled, and the performance was deserving of three points.
Now, he needs to do it all again.
Losers
And then onto the losers.
Benjamin Sesko: Having scored three goals in two games, Sesko was finally finding form and would have hoped to continue here.
However, Sesko instead was an unused substitute.
It was probably the right call as the game didn’t call for a number nine being brought on. But he will still feel annoyed and be eager to prove he should start vs Arsenal.
