Report: Man Utd now considering move to hire 3-4-2-1 Bundesliga manager instead of Tuchel

Manchester United are now considering a move to hire a Bundesliga manager instead of Thomas Tuchel in the summer, according to reports.

Carrick: Man Utd were "desperate to do well"

There was an energy to Man United against Manchester City in the Manchester derby. An energy not often seen under Ruben Amorim. This was a side with hunger, with desire and with all the quality in the world to ease past Pep Guardiola's side at Old Trafford.

It's the perfect start for Michael Carrick, who told reporters: "The players left the changing room unbelievably desperate to do well and the supporters were incredible.

“I said yesterday this can be a magical place and hopefully it is just the start. We are not getting carried away but you have got to enjoy the feeling.

“We looked dangerous all the time. Certainly we are not going to have games with the emotion and feeling that today brought but there are levels of standard we need to live up to. It’s a big one again next week but we have got a good foundation to build on.”

The victory has already left some wondering just how far Carrick can take the Red Devils and whether he may well be the man for the permanent job.

He more than played his part in an excellent win.

The most recent reports have suggested that will not be the case, however, and the search is underway for a permanent manager when the summer arrives.

Just who that is remains to be seen, but rumours have been coming thick and fast. One name mentioned among the top of Man United's shortlist is Tuchel. The England boss is out of contract at the end of the World Cup and that's when INEOS could make their move for the German.

It is worth noting that he's not the only name on the shortlist, though, and it could yet be a Bundesliga manager who arrives in the summer.

Man Utd now considering move to hire Niko Kovac

As reported by TeamTalk, Man United are now considering hiring Niko Kovac from Borussa Dortmund in the summer. The Croatian has only been in the job since last February, but could be the subject of interest from the Red Devils just over a year since arriving at the Bundesliga club.

That said, there would be a touch of irony if Man United turned to Kovac, given that the 54-year-old uses a 3-4-2-1 system - the exact same formation which led to Ruben Amorim's downfall.

Kovac certainly has a better record with his system than Amorim did at Man United, but it remains to be seen whether INEOS are willing to take another risk on a manager who uses a back three.
