Aston Villa have the chance to bring in some new faces before the end of the January transfer window
Aston Villa are back in Premier League action on Sunday afternoon at home to Everton. They will be looking to make the most of Arsenal and Manchester City both failing to win on Saturday as they continue their push for top spot. The Gunners drew with Nottingham Forest, whilst Pep Guardiola’s side were beaten 2-0 by rivals Manchester United at Old Trafford.
Unai Emery’s men remain 3rd in the table and are seven points off the summit. They won 2-1 away at Tottenham Hotspur in the third round of the FA Cup last time out. Emi Buendia and Morgan Rogers got their goals.
Aston Villa linked with move for Brentford attacker Kevin Schade
According to CaughtOffside, Aston Villa are showing ‘interest’ in Brentford attacker Kevin Schade. Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur have also been mentioned as potential suitors. The report adds that his price tag is around the £52million mark.
Schade, 24, is under contract with the Bees until June 2028 meaning he still has a couple of years left to run down on his deal. However, his current club could face a battle to keep hold of him down the line amid attention from elsewhere. He has become a key player for the London outfit over recent times under the guidance of Keith Andrews.
The Germany international, who has five caps to his name, was signed by Brentford back in 2023. He joined them on an initial loan deal that was later made permanent. The forward has made 70 appearances in all competitions to date, 20 of which have come in this campaign, and he has scored 20 goals.
Schade started his senior career at SC Freiburg following spells at SV Babelsberg 03 and FC Energie Cottbus as a youngster. He was a regular for his former team at various different youth levels before breaking into their first-team. The Potsdam-born man found the net on six occasions in 36 outings before heading over to England.
Would Brentford ace Kevin Schade be a good signing for Aston Villa?
Aston Villa could see Schade as someone to bolster their attacking department. If he joined, he would give them more depth at the top end of the pitch. In addition, he would inject more pace and power into Emery’s starting XI.
He has proved that he knows where the back of the net is at the top level. Brentford won’t want to lose him anytime soon and if they are forced to cash in, they will likely try and get as much money for him as possible. He would be ideal competition for Ollie Watkins in attack.
Andrews heaped praise on Schade last month and said: “He works tirelessly for the team. It's an attribute that we insist on for our attacking players that they have to run back as quickly as they run forward. He's a constant threat.
"I feel like in the last couple of weeks he's been starting to get into really good positions and getting really really close and today was a really nice hat-trick right foot left foot header.”
