Juventus are in negotiations with Crystal Palace and Jean Philippe-Mateta’s agents to get a deal done this month.
That’s according to Gianluca di Marzio. He reports that three-way negotiations are underway for Mateta to leave Crystal Palace this month.
Juventus are continuing to push for the French striker. Talks are ongoing with Crystal Palace and the player’s representatives at the same time to find a deal. Those contacts continued on Friday.
The Italian giants are trying to balance the high cost of the operation. There’s no mention of Crystal Palace’s asking price as yet. But the Bianconeri are insisting on getting the French striker and pushing to bring him in this month. They’re keen to invest in their forward line before the January transfer window closes.
Mateta is something of a long-term target. They had been expected to move for him in the summer but have now seemingly pushed that plan forwards.
Crystal Palace, one in and one out
Crystal Palace are seemingly expecting Mateta to depart too. They’re already working on a replacement in the form of Sidiki Cherif. A report today stated that they’ve already seen a first bid for him rejected by Angers. The French club want as much as €30m for their top goalscorer.
A report earlier this week also stated that Crystal Palace had asked Juventus about Jonathan David. Whether they are negotiating to include him or do a separate deal remains to be seen.
Either way, negotiations are underway and Mateta appears destined to leave Selhurst Park before the end of the month.
What Oliver Glasner will make of that is unclear. The manager shared his frustrations on Saturday after Crystal Palace lost 2-1 away to Sunderland, and sounded like he was a man asking to be put out of his misery.
Glasner has been frustrated with Crystal Palace transfer business since early summer and it’s contributed to his impending exit from the club.
