Bruno Fernandes assist for United’s opener
Bruno Fernandes provided the assist for Manchester United’s opening goal, scored by returning teammate Bryan Mbeumo.
Mbeumo’s eighth goal of the season was Fernandes’ 10th assist of the campaign.
The goal came as part of an electric counter-attack in which four United players surged at the City defence.

Fernandes made it look easy by playing the ball into Mbeumo, but running at speed, and with three different options to pass to, we have seen these situations fall flat before.
Speaking on MUTV, former player Quinton Fortune lauded Fernandes for his perfect pass.
“The finish is fantastic, the weight of pass from Bruno is ridiculous.
“The weight of pass, he [Mbeumo] doesn’t have to break a stride.”
“This is at the highest level, Bravo Bruno…. Bruno makes this goal.”
Fernandes created six chances in the win, creating constant problems for the City backline that could not cope with United’s attacking intent.

Former Manchester United prospect Phil Bardsley gave his view on Manchester United’s opening goal.
Speaking to MUTV’s Matchday Review, he said that he would be worried playing against this Red Devils team when they play like that.
He said: “Outstanding goal, the weight of pass, counter attack, the endeavour and desire to get up the pitch to score, where they ran from the edge of our box, it was worthwhile.
“The pace that they’ve got running forward, I’m just glad I’m not a defender now, defending against that, it was absolutely blistering. It was great to see.”
