Wolves have until the transfer deadline on Monday 2nd February to complete any final bits of business

Wolves are in a relegation battle in the Premier League under Rob Edwards. They turned to the former Watford and Luton Town man earlier this winter. He was picked as their replacement for Vitor Pereira, who was sacked after a poor run of form.

Edwards left Middlesbrough in the Championship to take on a new challenge at Molineux. His side are in the drop zone along with Burnley and West Ham. They are back in action on Saturday away at Manchester City following their match against Newcastle United over the weekend.

Wolves man Joao Gomes wanted by Napoli

Wolves midfielder Joao Gomes has emerged as a ‘major target’ for Napoli, according to CaughtOffside. The report adds that Atletico Madrid, Manchester United and Crystal Palace are also interested. However, Liverpool are said to have cooled their pursuit.

Gomes, 24, is under contract until June 2030 meaning he still has a lot of time left to run down on his deal. However, he is likely to move on this summer, especially if his current club slip into the second tier. They will be eager to get as much money for his signature as possible.

The Brazil international, who has 10 caps to his name, gives Edwards more competition and depth in the middle of the park. He rose up through the academy at Flamengo and was a regular for them at various different youth levels. The Rio de Janeiro-born man played 122 matches for their first-team as a youngster before heading over to England, scoring four goals. He has since made 112 appearances altogether for Wolves and has found the net on seven occasions.

What has Wolves boss Rob Edwards said about potential January exits?

Edwards has shared this update: “A lot of the lads want to try and maybe right some of the wrongs and want to help the club. They want to do well, of course for themselves, but for a football club as well. They really are genuinely all committed. That's not saying that no one's going to go, I'm not saying that, I've been consistent with that all the way through. But, it's not like people are banging the door down or trying to force anything. It's not the case."

He added: “They're here and absolutely committed and we'll treat everything on an individual basis. If we think it's the right thing for the club, then we might look at something, but only if it's right for us. We have got good players here, so I'm expecting there to be rumours and speculation, but at the moment that's where it is. We'll deal with something if it was to come along on an individual basis, but I'm under no pressure to sell any of those lads."
