Donald Trump is threatening to cause chaos in the football world as the US President's controversial decisions may impact the 2026 World Cup. Everyone has their own opinion on the American leader, and Gary Neville's is very interesting.
Former Manchester United captain Neville has never shied away from giving his thoughts on big political issues or the biggest news stories in the world. For example, he caused outrage with his take on Union Jack flags after the Manchester synagogue attack in October 2025.
While he is yet to give a new opinion on how Trump's actions could impact football, Neville did share two tweets with his X (formerly Twitter) followers back in 2021 and 2022. Those posts show exactly what the 50-year-old makes of the current president.

Trump's first term as US president ended in January 2021 after a controversial four-year reign. Neville quickly jumped onto social media to express his feelings about the politician and businessman.
The defender-turned-pundit was clearly very unhappy with what he'd seen at the White House under Trump's watch, as he labelled his term 'horrible and dangerous'. Neville posted:
"A horrible and dangerous period of leadership ends. He normalised mistruth and divided a nation.
"This type of politics must end. Let’s hope today is the start."

With over 74,000 likes and almost 8,000 retweets, it's clear that he wasn't alone in those views. That wasn't the last time Neville commented on Trump publicly, either.
In a post the following summer, he took aim at three world leaders. With harsh words for Trump, Russian leader Vladimir Putin and UK Prime Minister at the time, Boris Johnson, the ex-England international made his feelings clear once again.
"Who’d have thought Trump, Putin and Johnson would turn out as they have! Can we please get back to normal?" he tweeted.

Donald Trump was handed the award by FIFA president Gianni Infantino.
His ongoing threats towards several European nations over Greenland have even led to suggestions that former World Cup winners, Germany, could 'boycott' this year's tournament. Based on the decisions the president is making - whether they impact football or not - it's hard to see much of a shift in Neville's opinion.
