Tottenham unlikely to appoint former Man United boss

Tottenham Hotspur boss Thomas Frank is under huge pressure heading into his side’s Champions League meeting with Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday night.

The Lilywhites were beaten 2-1 by struggling London rivals West Ham United on Saturday, leaving the Lilywhites 14th in the Premier League table.

Spurs have now won just four of their last 24 home Premier League games, and Frank – who left Brentford to take charge last summer – is under huge pressure to turn his side’s fortunes around.

Now, it has emerged that Tottenham will not be looking to appoint a former Manchester United manager any time soon.

According to Football Insider, Tottenham Hotspur are not likely to consider appointing Ruben Amorim as their new head coach if they do decide to sack Frank in the near future.

Amorim departed Old Trafford earlier this month after just 14 months in charge of the Red Devils, and the Portuguese has been rumoured to be in the running to succeed Frank.

The report claims, however, that Spurs have no intention of appointing Amorim, as they perceive his departure from Man United to be a ‘red flag’.

Just days before his sacking, Amorim gave a shock interview during which he claimed that he was ‘here to be manager, not coach’.

The report suggests that the Portuguese – who bagged a £10 million payout when he was sacked by United – is not in any particular rush to return to management, particularly in the Premier League in the wake of his disastrous first foray into English football.

Frank has so far overseen just 12 wins from 33 matches in charge of Tottenham, including seven victories from 22 Premier League games.

While Spurs are said to be considering sacking the Dane, the report claims that Amorim is very unlikely to succeed him if he is dismissed.
