Amid all the upheaval at Manchester United, the transfer rumour mill has continued in the background.
It has been a hectic month at Manchester United, with three different managers taking charge of games. And with the Manchester Derby, the Red Devils have now secured their first win in 2026.
The club has not been active in the transfer window, with the only activity being the overdue exit of youth talent Sam Mather, and a handful of academy players being recalled from loans. The expectation is they will all go back out again to new clubs.
United have been linked with a move for Ruben Neves – but it is yet to be seen whether Michael Carrick will actually be backed in the market beyond this speculation.
In addition to this rumour, four more players have been linked to United in recent days, while most fans have been focusing on the joy of beating City.

Joao Gomes
Manchester United continue to be linked with Wolves midfielder Joao Gomes, amid conflicting reports over whether he would be allowed to leave this month.
Caught Offside report that United are the club most interested in Gomes’ signature, amid recent speculation that Liverpool could join the race.
Wolves are battling relegation and Gomes is a key player. United would have to pay a premium to land the midfielder this month, compared to the price he might be available for in the summer once they are in the Championship.
Gomes is also being linked to Atletico Madrid as a replacement for Conor Gallagher.
Ruben Loftus-Cheek
Have you heard the talk of a mystery midfielder being linked to Manchester United? It might be best not to get too excited.
Teamtalk report that Ruben Loftus-Cheek has been offered to United, and six other Premier League clubs.
Loftus-Cheek is looking to secure a move away from AC Milan, where he has started eight games this season.
While he has Premier League experience, it feels like this is the kind of short-term move that United would be reluctant to make.
