Jamie Carragher believes that Manchester United's potential interest in Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone could create issues similar to the ones Ruben Amorim faced during his time at the club.
Michael Carrick is currently in interim charge at Old Trafford and enjoyed a dream start to life with a 2-0 win over Manchester City. It's believed that the ex-United midfielder will see out the remainder of the season before a permanent appointment is made.
Thomas Tuchel, Eddie Howe and Roberto De Zerbi have all been mentioned as potential candidates. There have also been links to Luis Enrique, Xavi, Gareth Southgate and Oliver Glasner.
As the process at Old Trafford gets underway, Carragher has been analysing the options available to United alongside Thierry Henry. During Sky Sports' Monday Night Football show, the former Liverpool defender explained why a move for Simeone would go against the club's make-up.
“The Simeone one is really interesting," he said. "We’ve just had a chat about DNA. But it’s interesting that Roy, who loves the club, and Gary, the same, have both mentioned Diego Simeone at different points in the last 4 or 5 months, that they wouldn’t mind seeing him at Man United.
"That goes away from a club's DNA because he is a defensive coach. That’s what I go back to in this country, we pick managers on the success they have at clubs.

"You can’t then ask a manager because he’s successful, like [Ruben] Amorim and asking him not to play three at the back, you’re getting him from here to get what he did there here. You can’t then ask him to change."
Henry turned to United's decision-making process, highlighting the club's need for a clear vision of what they want in their next head coach. “If we were here, I would have an internal discussion about what we want to be," he said.
"I know I’m going back to the same thing but we’d have a clear view of who we’re going to get and I think that clubs are sometimes bypassing that discussion. Which direction do you want to take, then it becomes clearer."
Carragher went on to name the manager he believes United will want to bring in. “If you’re Man United, I think everybody would want Luis Enrique," he explained.
"They would have watched how PSG played last year, we’re talking about a guy who has won the Champions League twice. I don’t think they’ll get Luis Enrique. I think there’s a good chance that they end up with Thomas Tuchel”
