Manchester United legend David Beckham and wife Victoria have long been one of the most high-profile power couples in the world, but 'Posh' has one trait that may surprise many

Wayne Rooney lifted the lid on what Victoria Beckham is really like behind closed doors. And the reality may flip many preconceptions about 'Posh' on their head.
The Beckhams are back in the news this week after eldest son Brooklyn issued a bombshell statement severing ties with his parents. Murmurs of a family feud have rumbled on for months, and Brooklyn has now confirmed the divide after suggesting his mother and father have controlled him for much of his life, alleging they've also "tried endlessly to ruin his relationship" with his wife, Nicola.
However, Rooney has a far different perception of the Beckhams after being invited around for dinner not long after joining Manchester United. David left for Real Madrid in 2003, one year before Rooney signed for United, but the former Everton striker nonetheless got to grips with how one of the biggest power couples on the planet behaved away from the spotlight.
Speaking on The Wayne Rooney Show, he told Kelly Somers and Kae Kurd he even had an impromptu first meeting with Brooklyn himself as he recalled: "I remember years ago we got invited to Becks' for dinner. It was me, Lamps (Frank Lampard) and a couple more players.
"We went to his house, me and Coleen, we were only 19 or something. We were like, 'This is weird, what’s happening here?' Had a walk around and he’s showing us round his house, and then I open a door and his eldest boy [Brooklyn], I bumped his head and he started crying. I thought, 'Oh, Jesus Christ.'
"Opened the door and bumped his head. But yeah, that was surreal. And we sat there with Becks and Victoria having dinner, it was like…" Somers then interrupted and asked: "What was dinner? Was it posh?"
But he used the opportunity to describe the Beckhams' humble nature and replied: "No. We met up with Becks and Victoria, me and Coleen, when he was at Madrid and went for dinner then, and we were having kebabs."
Not stopping there with the behind-the-scenes reveals, he also shed light on Victoria's personality that may surprise some: "He’s obviously a great lad, and Victoria’s such a lovely woman and funny. A lot funnier than people would think."

The public got a glimpse of Victoria's funnier side while filming the 'Beckham' Netflix docuseries. In fact, the Spice Girl was lauded by many as the highlight of the show after she took such a prominent role in the production.
One memorable scene showed David telling a poor joke before Victoria looked to the camera with a knowing smile and joked: "He thinks that's gonna be his moment in the documentary. But it's not about him. It's about me."
Another memorable segment saw Posh telling the camera she and her family grew up "very working class" before David poked his head around the door and told her to "be honest." He then reminded his wife how she used to be dropped to school in a Rolls Royce, and her reaction made for one of the best moments in the series.
There's little to laugh about regarding the Beckhams' current private dealings following Brooklyn's claims, however. And after failing to feature in the family's own Netflix series, there's speculation the oldest member of their brood may now get a series of his own to share his side of the story.
