Sergej Jakirovic says he hopes to conclude a deal to sign Manchester United midfielder Toby Collyer ahead of Saturday's home game with Swansea City.

The Tigers hope to boost their squad on the back of Tuesday night's impressive 3-0 win at play-off rivals Preston North End, thanks to goals from Liam Millar, Akin Famewo and Oli McBurnie.

Milutin Osmajic was then sent off in stoppage time for a headbutt on John Lundstram, while City goalkeeping coach Erbil Bozkurt was dismissed for his part in a flare-up between both benches following his red card.

City's second away win in the space of three days following Saturday's success in Southampton, and their third on the spin, cements their place in the top six.

The imminent arrival of Collyer, who was on loan at West Brom earlier in the season, hands the Tigers boss another option in the middle of the park, especially with Darko Gyabi facing a lengthy spell out.

"I think we will complete the deal for Toby this week," Jakirovic told Hull Live after an impressive win in Lancashire.

Jakirovic also confirmed Kasey Palmer was on the verge of joining Luton Town on loan, and he says the Jamaican needs to go and play.

"I think this is good because I cannot give him more minutes. We have a good competition in midfield, especially if Collyer will come, so now Joffy (Joe Gelhardt) is back, so we have a lot of options and he needs minutes. I think it's a great opportunity for him."

On the subject of an impressive away win, against the side directly below them in the table, Jakirovic felt his side should have scored more, but declared himself delighted.

"I'm very pleased with what I saw. I think that we controlled the whole game. We didn't allow anything.

"We found balance in our performance, the structure in possession, out of possession, because Preston are very direct, with two strikers in front, a lot of long balls, second balls, that was the key on this demanding pitch because the pitch is not in good condition and we scored three nice goals.

"Maybe we should score two or three more, but we are very happy because now it's a back-to-back wins and we are very, very satisfied with this."
