David Beckham has seen himself pulled into a toxic row surrounding his family after his eldest son, Brooklyn, released an explosive statement packed full of allegations
David Beckham has sent happy birthday messages to two of his former Manchester United teammates during the ongoing row engulfing his family. The Beckham family is in turmoil following the explosive statement issued by Brooklyn in which he made several accusations about his parents.
Brooklyn’s unhappiness centres around David and Victoria’s apparent attempts to control the narrative about the family and, in particular, their alleged attempts to “ruin” his relationship with wife Nicola Peltz. The famous couple’s eldest child felt he had “no choice but to speak for myself and tell the truth” about the family feud.
The most eye-catching claim was that Victoria had danced very inappropriately on him at his wedding in 2022 and had also allegedly "hijacked" his first dance with Nicola. Brooklyn’s comments have sparked renewed frenzy around the family, but David and Victoria have both tried to continue as normal on social media.
On Wednesday morning he took to Instagram to post happy birthday messages to Nicky Butt and Phil Neville on his stories, with Victoria doing the same for Spice Girls bandmate Emma Bunton. David posted “Happy birthday mate” with a heart emoji alongside a photo of him with Butt during their time together at Manchester United, as well as one reading “Birthday Boy” alongside a photo of Butt celebrating a goal.
Beckham also tagged Phil Neville and his twin sister Tracey Neville, who is the former head coach of the England netball team, on a photo of the two of them with the caption “Happy Birthday you 2” with two love hearts. Phil also received another message on a photo of the two of them celebrating from their United days.
David was part of the Class of 92, a famous group of United stars who came through the club’s academy and went on to have impressive careers. They were Beckham, Butt, Phil Neville, Gary Neville, Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes.
The group have remained friends and were previously all involved as owners of Salford City, although since May 2025 only Beckham and Gary Neville are still part of the ownership group. The other four are still involved in the club and still are seen attending matches.

“The boys Nicky, Scholesy, Gary, Becks and Giggsy are my close friends - they’re almost like my brothers,” Phil told Gabby Logan on her The Mid-Point podcast. “And I don’t see them at all now. Obviously we’re on WhatsApp groups and stuff like that, but they’re getting on with their lives.”
Butt recently revealed that he doesn’t like the ‘Class of 92’ tag. “I cringe when I hear it. But it is what it is. It’s what we’ve been known for since we all came through with Sir Alex Ferguson,” he said to Scholes on the Football’s Greatest podcast.
“And yeah, it’s something that I do cringe about and it just becomes something probably bigger than it really was, if I’m honest with you.”
