Luis Enrique’s flexible tactics suit Man United DNA
Enrique has enjoyed success in charge of Barcelona, Spain and PSG, meaning he would make the move to Old Trafford with plenty of experience at European giants.
Recently, Enrique rejected a contract extension at PSG, and his current deal expires in 2027. If he is looking for a new project, United should be at the front of the queue.

Considering half of United’s squad is built to play in a 3-4-2-1 formation, Enrique’s tactical flexibility would make him a good fit.
The report also highlights Enrique’s emphasis on wide players, which is a fundamental feature of United’s ‘DNA’ from the Sir Alex Ferguson years.
Enrique likes his players to play vertically, breaking between lines quickly. According to DataMBFootball, Enrique’s PSG side rank in the 97th percentile for pressing and the 95th percentile for goals compared to other European sides.
Luis Enrique was linked with Man United in 2022
After Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was sacked as manager, Cristiano Ronaldo wanted United to hire Enrique as his replacement.
Enrique was being heavily linked with the United job, but the Spaniard – who was in charge of Spain at the time – ruled himself out.
Interestingly, though, Enrique’s comments did leave the door open to a United move later down the line.

As quoted by AS, Enrique said in 2022: “I’ll be in Qatar with Spain because I’ve given my word, and besides, there’s nothing that excites me more than representing my country at the World Cup; after that, we’ll see.”
Enrique left the door open, and Ineos may come knocking in the summer.
