Sky Sports make Newcastle United decision set to impact Sunderland - on one condition

Newcastle United’s Premier League matches against Manchester United, Chelsea and Sunderland have all been rescheduled.

Three Newcastle United matches in March have been rescheduled after being selected for live television coverage.

Newcastle host Man United on Wednesday, March 4 with the kick-off time pushed back from 8pm GMT to 8:15pm to be broadcast live on TNT Sports.

The trip to face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, March 14 will now kick-off at 5:30pm after it was selected to be broadcast live on Sky Sports.

Newcastle’s Tyne-Wear derby match against Sunderland was initially scheduled to take place on Saturday, March 21 but has now been pushed back to take place on Sunday, March 22 with a 12pm kick-off at St James’ Park. The match is set to be broadcast live on Sky Sports but is subject to Newcastle being knocked out of the Carabao Cup.

The Magpies trail 2-0 heading into next month’s Carabao Cup semi-final second leg against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium. Having won the competition last season, Newcastle will have to do something they have never done under head coach Eddie Howe and win away at Manchester City.

Should Newcastle overcome the deficit and progress through to the Carabao Cup final for the third time in four seasons, the Sunderland match would have to be rearranged as the final is set to take place on the same day as the currently scheduled derby match.
