Manchester United have submitted an offer to sign defender Yisa Alao from Sheffield Wednesday. The 17-year-old made his first-team debut for Wednesday last month and has caught the attention of Premier League clubs.
It's understood that United have made an offer to sign the youngster, but they face competition from Chelsea and Liverpool, which means Alao has options on the table to consider.
Scouts have been impressed with Alao's athleticism and scope for improvement. The defender has spent the season around Wednesday's senior squad and he made his second appearance their first-team against Portsmouth last week, making his full debut and completing 63 minutes.

Wednesday were placed in financial turmoil by their former owner, Dejphon Chansiri, which means they are duty-bound to listen to offers for assets to raise cash to keep the club afloat.
Speaking recently, Wednesday manager Henrik Pedersen admitted his club needed to sell players. “There has to be something (player sales). I think we need to do something," he said.
"But of course I want to keep our players with the squad we have now. For Yisa, he’s a special boy because he’s one of our own. Of course we want to keep our biggest assets in the club.”
United are always on the lookout for the best young talent to add to their youth ranks. Brexit impacted which youngsters they can sign, which means recruiting players from within Britain has become common.
