Manchester United youngster Harry Amass is set to join Norwich City on loan for the remainder of the season.

Amass spent the first half of the campaign on loan with Sheffield Wednesday. The loan was announced as a season-long deal, but the structure of the transfer due to Wednesday's financial woes meant it expired on January 5, which saw Amass return to Manchester at the beginning of the month.

He is now to spend the second half of the campaign on loan with Norwich. Wednesday wanted to re-sign Amass on loan - he made 21 league starts at the Hillsborough Stadium - but the Canaries have won the race for his signature.

The 18-year-old won back-to-back Wednesday player of the month awards in November and December, and he was not short of interest from other Championship clubs. United had covered the costs of Amass' loan to facilitate game time, which opened the door for Norwich to make an improved offer to sign him.

United were happy to send Amass to Wednesday because of their loan development plan. Amass has greately benefited from regular minutes and will now continue his education at Carrow Road.

Ruben Amorim handed Amass his first-team debut against Leicester City at the King Power Stadium in March, and the youngster made a total of seven first-team appearances last season.

Amass was named on the bench for the Europa League final against Tottenham. There was a chance he could have remained with the first-team this term, but Diego Leon impressed in pre-season and Amass was loaned out.

Leon has continued to play for the Under-21s while Amass has excelled in the Championship.
