Man Utd now have golden opportunity to sign perfect Bruno Fernandes successor, Ineos should go all out - Opinion

Bruno Fernandes’ future at Manchester United beyond this summer looks uncertain at best, and therefore, Ineos should be looking to the future and possible successors.

Since joining the club six years ago, Bruno Fernandes has been incredible and often putting Manchester United on his back, but this could be coming to an end.

Fernandes is undoubtedly a United legend for what he has done at the club, including winning two trophies. However, there is a general acceptance that he will be leaving next summer.

Last summer, Fernandes was almost sold by United, which left him upset, while there have been reports of the club captain planning a move after the World Cup in June and July.

Fernandes is available for just £57m for interested clubs in the summer transfer window.

If he is to be sold, United fans will demand a like-for-like replacement, which isn’t really possible. However, one player is the best possible answer and could now be available.

Cole Palmer would be the only acceptable replacement for Bruno Fernandes

In the event Fernandes leaves, it could be a destruction-level event for Manchester United, given how pivotal he has been over the years. So it is vital that United bring in a player capable of producing the same magic, and Cole Palmer is probably one of the only names in world football capable of this.

Now, there has been a suggestion that Palmer is unhappy at Chelsea, missing living in Manchester. So with this and the fact that Palmer was a United fan growing up, there is a real chance Ineos could sense a market opportunity.

United fans would love to sign Palmer as well, as his performances for Chelsea prior to this season established him among the best attackers in the world.

Over the past two seasons, Palmer has scored 23 and assisted 14, with just five this season, which is more of an exception. Comparing the pair just last season, it was 38 goal contributions for Fernandes and 32 for Palmer, showing how good the Englishman is.

Fernandes has even praised Palmer, labelling him as being ‘top-class’, which surely helps make the unsettled forward the dream successor for United.

Palmer is only 23, yet has already found the levels of consistency that few do, and in the number 10 for United, he could create complete magic.

Manchester United should go all out for Palmer

The fact of the matter is, if Palmer is available, Ineos simply must go all in.

Chelsea will sell for the right price, not being a club that gets tied down to players, with several others in Palmer’s position already at the club.

However, this right price will be big, big money, probably north of £100m at least. Which doesn’t sound like a lot for a player of this quality, but with a midfield overhaul and targets like Elliot Anderson, it would be an expensive summer.

But United cannot pass up this chance. Palmer is destined to wear red in Manchester, and it looks likelier than ever to be on the cards.
