Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Co already found a short-term replacement after Amorim’s sacking at Man Utd, with Darren Fletcher initially appointed caretaker manager.

Darren Fletcher’s United reign lasted only two matches before Ineos found a more effective appointment of Michael Carrick until the end of the 2025-26 season.

Michael Carrick has now offered Ineos chief Ratcliffe some much-needed time to find the perfect replacement for Amorim ahead of the 2026 summer window.

After all, even Ineos and Sir Jim Ratcliffe had approached the 52-year-old German head coach in 2024 during the tail end of Erik ten Hag’s Man Utd managerial reign.

Jamie Carragher’s assessment of Tuchel and the Three Lions head coach’s demeanour makes him perfectly suited for the Red Devils managerial role this summer.

“He’s obviously a top manager. The thing I like about him is I still think he’s got that energy and drive and spikiness about him.

“He’s gone into the England squad, and he’s ruffled feathers with some of the biggest players there.

“Now I’m not saying that has to happen in every job he’s in, but there’s something about him.

However, the former Chelsea and Bayern Munich manager has an aura that makes him stand out for the right reasons, hence his ascension to the England role in 2025.

No matter how much criticism that Tuchel has faced in his England reign, the Three Lions boss has the personality and determination to weather the storm.

Tuchel is a mouth-watering proposition in the Old Trafford dugout, especially with the former Paris Saint-Germain boss being out of contract after the 2026 World Cup.

The ex-Borussia Dortmund head coach is exactly why Ratcliffe and Ineos floated the idea of bringing him to the Premier League club in the first place back in 2024.
