Report: Man Utd still in talks to sign teenager Harry Amass can recommend, Ineos like his'athleticism'

Manchester United’s January transfer window has been very quiet so far, but there is one deal for a player, who Harry Amass knows very well, that is still technically possible.

This is no surprise, with Manchester United traditionally not being active in January, barring the odd exception.

Ineos tried to sign Antoine Semenyo this month, for example, with the market opportunity to sign the now Manchester City star too tempting.

However, United are unlikely to sign a midfielder this month, instead preferring to wait and get a top target next summer.

But there is one deal that the Red Devils are still pushing to complete.

Manchester United remain in contention to sign Yisa Alao

The deal United are continuing to push for is Amass’ former teammate at Sheffield Wednesday, 17-year-old Yisa Alao.

United first bid for Alao earlier this season, with the offer thought to be in the region of £450,000. However, this wasn’t enough.

Chelsea are thought to be leading the race for Alao, with a bid thought to be in the high six-figure range, with a deal ‘close’ to being finalised, according to The Athletic.

This report adds that the overall package to sign Alao will significantly surpass £1m, which is a cheap fee for a footballer already showing so much potential.

Despite the interest, United currently stands to miss out; however, with Harry Amass and Diego Leon already in the ranks, it is tough to see where he would fit into the future plans of the club.

What Manchester United like about Yisa Alao

As a left-back, Alao found himself behind Amass in the pecking order this season. However, Amass is Norwich-bound and the youngster has become important for Wednesday.

Alao isn’t setting the world alight, making the level of clubs interested a little confusing.

However, according to Manchester Evening News, United scouts have recommended Alao based on his athleticism, which has impressed.

Additionally, United believe Alao has plenty of room to grow and develop into a much better player.

But given United’s talented young left-backs, there won’t be much sleep lost over Alao if he picks Chelsea, especially given they have become a bit of a talent graveyard.
