Man Utd are expected to sanction two exits in the January transfer window today.

The 18-year-old shone at Sheffield Wednesday during the first half of the campaign and attracted strong interest from a host of clubs this month. It is understood that roughly half of the teams in the Championship expressed some form of interest in a deal, but it is in-form Norwich who have won the race to sign him.

Wednesday were also extremely interested in a move to re-sign Amass on loan, while Stoke City, Millwall and Watford thought they had a chance to sign him. It is understood the teenage left-back will complete his move to Carrow Road on Thursday and could make his debut when they host league leaders Coventry on Monday night.

Amass set for Norwich loan move

Harry Amass shone on loan at Sheffield Wednesday earlier in the season, where he made 21 appearances across all competitions for the club. The Manchester United youngster won consecutive player of the month awards for November and December at Wednesday and scored one goal during his spell at Hillsborough.

Wednesday hoped their guarantee of playing time would help them seal another loan move, but it has been decided he will join in-form Norwich City instead. Although they sit 20th in the Championship table, the Canaries sit 6th in the form table over the last 10 matches and have turned a corner under new manager Philippe Clement.

While the immediate focus is on staying in the division, Norwich could make an unlikely late surge up the table and have renewed optimism after a bright start to the January transfer window. It is also interesting to note that while Amass was used as a wing-back at Wednesday, he will be deployed as a left-back at his new club, a tactical change that mirrors the one United have made under Michael Carrick.

Speaking earlier in the week, Clement confirmed Norwich hoped to add to their squad in the final fortnight of the window: "We're busy with several players and several positions and I hope we can get everything over the line, I know everybody's working hard on that," Clement said.

“We had a lot of talks also this week with several players and after the talks they were really interested in the project, this type of result will help also, because several players have the idea maybe, ‘Yes, but you're in a relegation spot and until the end of the season you are going to play relegation football and kick and rush because you're in trouble’. These games like this, help also. So I hope this will help some players also over the line. We are busy with several guys.”
