Manchester United's transfer hopes have brightened with the recent development of looking to add experience to their midfield in the second half of the Premier League season. The Red Devils have suffered a torrid season after suffering early exits in both the League Cup to Grimsby Town and FA Cup to Brighton & Hove Albion meaning United will finish having completed 40 matches in all competitions - their shortest season in more than 100 years.
The January transfer window opens up the opportunity for United to spearhead the race to sign the experienced midfielder and the bookies are backing that up. Right now, William Hill are pricing Neves at 2/1 to arrive at Old Trafford before the January transfer window closes with Man City a distant second at 15/2 at the time of writing this.
According to reports from Spain, as cited by Sport Witness, Real Madrid have no interest in signing Ruben Neves this month. It is reported that club president Florentino Perez is reluctant to bring in new players during the January transfer window. Portuguese outlet Record echoes this sentiment, noting that Perez is unwilling to spend millions on Neves at this time.
The former Wolves midfielder is currently under contract with Al Hilal until the summer. This situation could open the door for Manchester United, who are reportedly ready to offer €20 million (£17.4m) to sign Neves in January.
The 28-year-old is best known for his spell at Wolves where he arrived at Molineux from Porto in 2017 spearheading the side to promotion from the Championship. He went on to play more than 250 times in all competitions for the club including 177 appearances in the Premier League before joining Al-Hilal nearly three years ago for a club record sale of £47 million.
