Manchester United have tabled a club-record bid to sign Real Madrid star Federico Valverde, according to E-Noticies.
The Red Devils have made midfield reinforcements their priority for 2026 after spending over £200m last summer to strengthen their attack with the arrivals of Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko, while they also brought in goalkeeper Senne Lammens.
But with question marks over the futures of their current midfield options, the club are preparing for a big year of incomings to make the squad stronger, and they have now made their move to bring in a top star and take advantage of some concerns over his current situation.

Valverde, who has been described by Carlo Ancelotti as 'the most complete footballer in the world', has seen his midfield role at the Bernabeu drop down the pecking order this season, with Xabi Alonso and Alvaro Arbeloa so far preferring alternative options.
The Uruguay international is considered to be one of the best midfielders in the world, but has made most of his appearances at right-back, with Trent Alexander-Arnold and Dani Carvajal suffering with injury problems. However, the 27-year-old isn't happy about it and is said to be considering his future in the Spanish capital as a result.
It's understood that he is not considered to be a key player by the current management team, and he has told the Madrid chiefs that he doesn't want to continue at the club under those conditions.
That has seen Manchester United enter the picture and table a club-record £104m bid to sign him, and they are ready to offer him a key midfield role to convince him. Valverde is believed to be keen on the move and has been seduced by the project on offer, while he is also open to testing himself in the Premier League.

While a move to bring Valverde to Old Trafford would be a phenomenal bit of business, the club would need to secure Champions League football to make it somewhat worthwhile.
Splashing out the giant transfer fee and the wages it would take to get him in from Real Madrid would only make sense if they are playing in the top competitions, and Valverde would surely not be keen to play for a club not competing at the highest level.
His profile of being an all-action, dominant midfielder is what is needed at Man Utd, and if he continues to be unhappy at Real Madrid then this is one to keep a close eye on.
