Manchester United set for double selection boost vs Arsenal with duo still absent

Man Utd have been training ahead of their trip to face Arsenal in the Premier League this weekend.

Manchester United are set to welcome two players back to their first-team squad when they travel to face Arsenal in the Premier League this weekend.

Michael Carrick will hope to continue his fine start to life as United head coach when they make the trip to North London on Sunday afternoon. Manchester United team news vs Arsenal

Manchester United will welcome Noussair Mazraoui and Shea Lacey back to the first-team squad when they face Arsenal in the Premier League this weekend.

United have granted Mazraoui additional time off following the conclusion of the Africa Cup of Nations last weekend, but the Morocco international is set to return to Carrington by the end of the week. The 28-year-old is expected to be involved in the final training sessions before the Arsenal match and could be named in the travelling squad. Mazraoui was named in the Team of the Tournament for AFCON and would not be short of match fitness.

Lacey will also be in contention after he missed the Manchester derby win over Man City due to suspension. The 18-year-old trained with the first team during midweek and could earn a place at the Emirates this weekend to provide Michael Carrick with an additional option in attack.

United will be without Joshua Zirkzee when they face Arsenal this weekend, while Matthijs De Ligt is still not back in training after his recent injury issues. Zirkzee missed the Man City match with a 'small knock' that is expected to rule him out for two weeks, while De Ligt has missed the last 10 matches due to injury. Neither player took part in the club's latest training session.
