Aston Villa have been offered the chance to re-sign midfielder Douglas Luiz on loan this month after Boubacar Kamara's knee injury, according to the Daily Mail.
Unai Emery's side have had a terrific season so far and currently sit seven points behind Premier League leaders Arsenal in third place, while they are also pushing to qualify for the knockout stages of the Europa League in the process.
But their pursuit of success has taken a knock in recent weeks after it emerged that influential star Kamara is set to miss the rest of the season and John McGinn will miss several weeks due to injury, which has seen Aston Villa begin to identify midfield targets to come in and strengthen the squad.
Aston Villa Offered Douglas Luiz Deal

Luiz, who has previously been described as 'world-class' by McGinn, is currently on loan at Nottingham Forest from Juventus, after he departed Villa Park for the Serie A club but struggled for regular game time in Italy.
However, injuries have plagued his season so far and the Brazil international has managed just eight appearances in the Premier League, with five starts under Nuno Espirito Santo, Ange Postecoglou and Sean Dyche.
Villa are looking at potential options to help strengthen their midfield after the recent injury issues, and it has now emerged that they have been offered the chance to being the 27-year-old back to the Midlands until the end of the season. It's unclear if they are looking at pursuing a deal, or if Forest and Luiz would be open to a deal.
The club are also looking at a deal for AC Milan star Ruben Loftus-Cheek on loan, with Emery desperate to ensure the squad isn't weakend in the second half of the season.
Aston Villa Need January Reinforcements
Unai Emery
The Villa squad is small, but they have dealt with the demands of the campaign well so far. However, if they want to remain consistent and challenge for silverware then they need additional options.
The midfield area has already been mentioned, but the team could also do with some attacking reinforcements too, after they sold Donyell Malen to AS Roma and with Harvey Elliott having absolutely no future at the club either.
A return for Luiz, who knows how Emery works, what the demands are to be in the team and is already loved by fans, could be shrewd business if they're able to keep him fit, and it could be the difference between missing out on Champions League football again or lifting a trophy come the end of the season.
