“Develop in peace” – Agent explains Brentford transfer, Juventus and Leipzig showed interest

Youngster Kaye Furo joined Brentford this month so that he can continue to develop in peace at the Premier League club.

That’s according to his agent, Willem Ofori. He’s been speaking to Het Belang van Limburg, relayed by Voetbal Primeur.

Furo signed for Brentford earlier this month in a surprise deal from Club Brugge. The deal, believed to be worth around €10m, was wrapped up quickly. That’s likely due to the strong relationship between Brugge and Brentford.

The Bees signed Igor Thiago from the Belgian club in 2024 and have maintained a relationship since. That seemingly allowed them to get a deal for Furo over the line quickly.

The 18-year-old striker is now expected to continue his development in Brentford’s youth ranks. He’s a product of Brugge’s youth ranks after joining them in 2017. He had managed eight first team appearances for Brugge before his departure. That include 23 minutes in the defeat to Arsenal back in December.

Whether he is implemented into Brentford’s plans before too long, remains to be seen. His agent certainly won’t be pushing it, as he wants to see the youngster develop in peace.

“Last year, Juventus and Leipzig, among others, showed interest, but we felt it would be better for him to continue his development at Club NXT,” he said.

“Because we couldn’t reach an agreement on extending his contract in recent months, we accepted Brentford’s offer.

“We made this choice together with his parents. The Premier League club has one of the best striker academies in the world. Here, he can continue to develop as a striker in peace. Brentford clearly believes in his potential, as they immediately signed him on a long-term contract until mid-2031.”
