Manchester United midfielder Casemiro will leave the club at the end of the current campaign.
The Red Devils confirmed on Thursday that the veteran Brazilian midfielder will depart Old Trafford when his contract expires this summer.
The 33-year-old joined United in 2022, ending a hugely successful spell with former club Real Madrid during which he won no fewer than 18 trophies including five Champions Leagues and the La Liga title three times.
Since arriving in England, the Brazilian has established himself as a integral player for United, making more than 140 appearances for the club across all competitions, scoring 21 goals and providing 13 assists.
So far this term he has featured 21 times, including 20 Premier League games.
Casemiro’s future has been the subject of intense speculation for some time now, with rumours suggesting that he could return to his native Brazil.

The midfielder was linked with a move away from Old Trafford last summer and speculation was also rife that he could depart during the mid-season January transfer window, but United have now confirmed that the player will leave the club at the end of the season.
Arguably Casemiro’s finest moment in a United shirt came in the final of the 2023 Carabao Cup final, when the midfielder scored the Red Devils’ first goal as they defeated Newcastle United 2-0 to win the trophy under Erik ten Hag.
He also won the Fa Cup the following season under the Dutchman, adding to his extensive career trophy haul.
The Brazil international is unlikely to add to his silverware collection this term, though, as United have already been knocked out of both domestic cups and are not competing in Europe after a dismal Premier League campaign last term.
