Bruno Fernandes sends heartfelt message to Casemiro as latter announces Manchester United exit
Bruno Fernandes sent a six-word message to teammate Casemiro after the latter announced he would leave Manchester United at the end of the 2025/26 season.
Casemiro is set to enter the final five months of his contract at Old Trafford. While he has the option for a further year, Manchester United have decided not to activate it when his contract runs out in June.
After United announced his departure in a statement, Casemiro took to his Instagram account on Thursday, January 22, to confirm his exit. The 33-year-old wrote:
“Knowing when stages come to an end. Knowing when to say goodbye when you feel that you will be remembered and respected forever. Four months to give my all for this badge and for our goal. Eternal respect and affection for Manchester United and its wonderful fans. Forever Red Devil.”
Club captain Fernandes was among the several United players who took to the comments section to wish Casemiro farewell in advance.
“Was a pleasure playing alongside you ❤️,” Fernandes commented.

To date, Fernandes and Casemiro have played together 132 times and have combined for eight goals. They have been teammates since 2022, after Casemiro joined United from Real Madrid. Their shared trophies at the club include the Carabao Cup and the FA Cup.
"I am Manchester United until death," Casemiro says
Casemiro said he will always remain a United fan even after he leaves the club. The midfielder described the opportunity to don the Red Devils jersey as ‘special’ and thanked the fans for their support over the years.
“It means so much, not just for me, but for all my family,” Casemiro said, speaking in a video released to confirm the news. “It is so special and I will always carry this club with me for all my life. I will always be a Manchester United fan, my whole family too. In England, I am red, I am Manchester United until death. So, all I want to say is: thank you for everything."
The Brazilian reflected on his first day at the club, noting how he was warmly received by fans. He added:
“[On] my presentation, my first day, since I arrived at the airport, everybody, the fans have been very, very warm with me. Not just with me, but with my whole family. The day I first came into the stadium the fans were already singing my name and my songs, and I am never going to forget this, of course.”
To date, Casemiro has played 146 games for United, scoring 21 goals and providing 13 assists.
