Manchester United’s plans for the summer transfer window are already taking shape, with a potential Harry Maguire replacement now becoming of interest.
David Ornstein has told Manchester United fans to expect a big summer of transfer business, with multiple positions expected to be bolstered.
Primarily, United will be signing midfielders, with reports suggesting that at least two big arrivals in the position can be expected.
Casemiro has announced his United exit, making a midfield overhaul all the more necessary. Meanwhile, similar strengthening could be required in defence.
Harry Maguire’s contract is currently expiring in June, which could mean United needs to strengthen at the back, with one exciting option now named.

Manchester United showing interest in signing Jacobo Ramon
Maguire leaving would leave United one defender short for a season in which there would be European football and hopefully more of a cup run.
With Lisandro Martinez and Matthijs de Ligt both prone to injury, it is no shock United want additional defenders, with Jacobo Ramon from Como being considered.

This is according to journalist Ben Jacobs, who has now claimed that Ramon is a player United are keen on if Maguire leaves.
“If Maguire goes, of course, Manchester United might be in the market for another young centre back, particularly a left-sided centre back, but much of these centre backs now are just as comfortable on the left or on the right.
“Like Tottenham and Chelsea, Jacobo Ramon is one name they quite like. He’s capable of playing on the right and on the left as well. But I think Real Madrid might utilise their buyback clause in the summer and pry him away from Como”
Ramon has been a complete class for Como this season under the tutelage of potential United manager option Cesc Fabregas.

Ramon outperforms Harry Maguire in the air already
The main strength of Maguire is often thought to be his aerial presence in both boxes, resulting in lots of goals for club and country, so his replacement would need to dominate in the air.
Ramon does exactly this, winning 3.2 aerial duels per game in Serie A, which is a feat Maguire hasn’t managed since the 2020/21 Premier League season.
The Spaniard is among the Como side currently rising up the Serie A table, and he won’t be cheap, but considering his quality on and off the ball, it looks like a no-brainer.
Ramon is as complete a centre-back as you can find aged 21 right now in Europe. This is a move Ineos need to be right up there for despite the likely Madrid return.
