Manchester United consider making£12m offer for cut-price January signing

Manchester United have enquired about the terms of a deal for Wilfred Ndidi. The midfielder is presented as one of their end-of-window options.

That’s according to Turkish journalist Mustafa Karataş. He reports that Manchester United are considering a £12m deal for the Beşiktaş midfielder.

According to his information, Manchester United have three midfield targets on their list this month. Ndidi is one of them and a deal is being explored.

They’ve asked Beşiktaş about the terms of a potential deal. If they decide to move for him, Manchester United are reportedly considering a £12m offer to Beşiktaş ‘with a purchase option’. It would, then, presumably be an initial loan deal that they’re proposing.

Ndidi joined the Turkish side in the summer in an €8m deal from Leicester City. He’s been a regular for them this season and has a deal until 2028. That includes an option for a further year.

But it seems Manchester United are willing to make an attempt to bring him back to the Premier League. We, though, have some reservations about that idea.

Manchester United likely being pushed by agent

Ndidi is hardly a huge upgrade on what they already have and at 29-years-old is on the wrong end of the scale. Whilst making signings irrespective of the manager is possible, this doesn’t look like a long term club option, and therefore Michael Carrick need a say.

There’s also the fact that Ndidi is out with a hamstring injury until the 27th of this month. That would make passing a medical difficult, to say the least, and presents questions over his fitness for the rest of the season.

This perhaps feels more like an agent looking to get his client back to England and sounding out clubs about a potential deal. Whether Manchester United can genuinely be pressed to move is down to how persuasive that agent can be.

Manchester United have also been linked with Ruben Neves, however, that too appears rather weak.
