Manchester United will hope to build on their Manchester derby win when they face Premier League leaders Arsenal on Sunday afternoon.
The Red Devils cruised to a 2-0 victory over Manchester City in caretaker head coach Michael Carrick’s first match in charge, and the ex-England midfielder will hope to see another impressive display at The Emirates.
Ahead of that game, it has emerged that a prolific Premier League striker is keen to join Manchester United.
According to indykaila News, Crystal Palace forward Jean-Philippe Mateta is hoping that Manchester United will make an offer to sign him.
Mateta, 28, has established himself as one of the most reliable goal scorers in the English top flight in recent seasons, netting 46 goals in 118 appearances for the Eagles across all competitions since the start of the 2023/24 campaign.
So far this season the attacker has scored eight times in 22 Premier League games for Oliver Glasner’s side.
The Frenchman joined Palace on loan from German side Mainz in 2021, before making the move permanent the following year.

He is under contract at Selhurst Part until the end of the 2026/27 campaign, but it was widely reported earlier this week that the striker is has told the club that he wishes to leave.
Mateta has previously been linked with a move to Old Trafford, but the report suggests that United have not yet made any official offers to sign the striker.
United have spent heavily on attacking players in recent seasons, with Rasmus Hojlund, Joshua Zirkzee, Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha all arriving at the club.
While Hojlund is now on loan at Serie A champions Napoli, and Zirkzee continues to struggle, both Cunha and Mbeumo have made more positive starts to their respective United careers.
