Manchester United are expected to welcome Noussair Mazraoui and Shea Lacey back when they face Arsenal in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.

Mazraoui was granted additional time off after Morocco lost in the Africa Cup of Nations final to Senegal, but could be considered for selection this weekend. Lacey is set to be available for selection after serving a one-match suspension against Man City for the red card he suffered against Brighton.

United will still be without Dutch duo Matthijs De Ligt and Joshua Zirkzee after the pair also missed the Man City win. De Ligt has missed the last 10 matches due to injury, while Zirkzee is set for a couple of weeks on the sidelines after he picked up a 'small knock' earlier in the month.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Michael Carrick was quizzed on the early team news for the weekend and the fitness of De Ligt: “Everyone came through the game really well, I can’t tell you anything apart from the obvious, it’s been a good week, a big results and performance, a big uplift with the feeling inside the stadium.

“It’s getting that balance with the encouragement and confidence from the game keeping feet on the ground. One game doesn’t make you a great team, it gives us a great foundation to build on. A lot of confidence in the group but we know what’s coming.

When further pressed on De Ligt’s situation, Carrick added: “He had a bit of setback before I arrived, only small but he was a little bit slower that we had liked. He’s getting closer and hopefully in the next couple of weeks he will be back and around it.”
