Matthijs de Ligt could return to training at Manchester United in the next couple of weeks after overcoming a setback on his return from a back injury. The Dutch centre-back hasn't featured since the end of November, and his return has been halted after a setback during his rehabilitation a few weeks ago.
De Ligt and Joshua Zirkzee are now the only players absent at United after a string of first-teamers returned to action in recent weeks. Zirkzee is set to miss a couple of weeks and Michael Carrick has confirmed De Ligt is still on the treatment table as well.
"He had a bit of setback before I arrived, only small but he was a little bit slower than we had liked," said Carrick. "He’s getting closer and hopefully in the next couple of weeks he will be back and around it."

Carrick confirmed there were no fresh injury concerns ahead of the trip to Arsenal and that the mood this week was positive after the win against Manchester City.
"Everyone came through the game really well, I can’t tell you anything apart from the obvious, it’s been a good week," he said.
"A big result and performance, a big uplift with the feeling inside the stadium. It’s getting that balance with the encouragement and confidence from the game keeping feet on the ground.
"One game doesn’t make you a great team, it gives us a great foundation to build on. A lot of confidence in the group but we know what’s coming."
