Michael Carrick has now dropped his true feelings about Casemiro after Manchester United provided a massive update on the Brazil midfielder’s future at Old Trafford.

Casemiro will leave Manchester United at the end of the 2025-26 season and the Red Devils opted against triggering his 12-month contract extension in his current deal.

The 33-year-old Brazilian midfielder entered the final six months of his contract in January and has been linked with clubs in the Saudi Pro League in the past.

Casemiro is free to speak with clubs outside of England and the ex-Real Madrid star could sign a pre-contract agreement ahead of being a free agent in the summer.

The Brazil international, who arrived at Old Trafford, has become a key United first-team player under former Red Devils boss Ruben Amorim since the 2024-25 season.

United brought five-time Champions League winner Casemiro to the Premier League after paying a £60m fee and agreeing a further £10m in add-ons to Real Madrid.

Manchester United have only 16 Premier League matches remaining before Casemiro will bid his emotionally charged farewell to the Red Devils in the summer.

Michael Carrick spoke to the media on Friday afternoon at the Carrington training complex ahead of the huge Premier League clash against Arsenal on Sunday.

The 44-year-old Man Utd interim head coach insisted that Casemiro is keen to sign his Red Devils spell off on a high note before the end of the 2025-26 season.

“It is coming into that time of the season with contracts,” as per the Manchester Evening News.

“We are working away through January. There will be conversations at the right time.

“The announcement for Case was for clarity. It was decided before I arrived.

“The type of personality and character he is shows with his performance. He is desperate to do well.”

Casemiro’s emotional message to Man Utd fans after the former Real Madrid midfielder’s exit was confirmed

Casemiro talked up all of the special memories that he has been able to create at the Red Devils after his exit from Old Trafford was confirmed on Thursday.

“I will carry Manchester United with me throughout my entire life,” he said, as per The Guardian.

“It is not time to say goodbye; there are many more memories to create during the next four months.

“We still have a lot to fight for together; my complete focus will, as always, remain on giving my everything to help our club to succeed.”

Casemiro lifted the League Cup and the FA Cup under Erik ten Hag and has netted 21 times and registered 13 assists in 146 matches for Man Utd since his 2022 move.
