‘I’ll argue with Gabriel Gudmundsson all the time…’ – £25m Leeds United star makes brutally…

Leeds United

Leeds United have started this second half of the season on a really positive note; with huge results against Liverpool and Manchester United. The Whites suffered a little blip against Newcastle United.

But they have since bounced back with back-to-back wins in the FA Cup against Derby County and in the Premier League against Fulham. This Monday, the Whites will visit David Moyes and Everton at the Hill Dickinson stadium.

As things stand, Leeds have an eight-point cushion above the relegation zone. The 49ers are making sure that the second half of the season goes well, being active in January. The club have already added Facundo Buonanotte, and are pushing to sign Jorgen Strand Larsen later this week.

Leeds United star makes honest admission about team

It has not been an easy road to Leeds getting where they currently are in the league; they have experienced a lot of ups and downs. There were games early on in the season where the Whites lost simply because they were let down by finishing or defensive errors. In an interview with Premier League productions, Brenden Aaronson admits that Leeds should be in a better position, but the team have been let down by ‘little moments’:

“In this league, it’s tough because you’re playing against great teams every week, but I think that now we’ve competed against the best teams in the league, we’ve grown that confidence.

“Even all season, I think before we went on this great run, we were losing results by maybe one goal or a last-second thing.

“I’ll argue with Gabi all the time that we should even have more points, but that’s the Premier League, it’s little moments.”

Brenden Aaronson is right

When Leeds were losing games by narrow margins, Daniel Farke’s press conferences were very frustrating. He kept pointing out that luck would come his team’s way, or that Leeds should have won on ‘expected goals’. And for the most part, he was right.

In the early parts of the season, Leeds were a good team according to the statistics, they ranked high in expected goals for, and were low on the table for expected goals against. Its just that sometimes in games, poor finishing, poor goalkeeping or team errors decide the numbers instead of advanced statistics. The Whites should be in a better position than they are now, but at the same time, failing to capitalize on those ‘little moments’ have consequences too.
