Report: After En-Nesyri, Everton now close to missing out on another target as Leeds advance

Everton are struggling to sign a new striker.

There was a desire to bring Youssef En-Nesyri to the Hill Dickinson Stadium on loan from Fenerbahce, but the Moroccan himself opted for Juventus instead of Everton.

Everton also wanted Tammy Abraham before Aston Villa ended up signing the England international from Besiktas.

Now, the Toffees are at risk of missing out on Jorgen Strand Larsen as well – as TEAMtalk claim Leeds are confident of sealing an agreement following a new round of talks with Wolves.

Leeds now confident of beating Everton to Jorgen Strand Larsen

It has now been reported that Leeds are growing in confidence in pursuit of the Norway international.

Leeds saw a £30m bid rejected for Larsen earlier this week, but are now said to have increased that offer to a guaranteed £33m with a further £6m in bonuses – leaving them just £1m short of the £40m fee Wolves are demanding.

TEAMtalk believe there is optimism that a total agreement can be found with all parties soon.

Larsen netted 14 goals in 35 Premier League appearances last season, which resulted in Newcastle bidding £60m for his services last summer as the Magpies looked to replace Alexander Isak.

It remains to be seen if Everton make a late hijack attempt, but time is certainly of the essence as Leeds make progress in discussions.

Everton movement likely to hinge on whether Beto asking price is met

In our view, we doubt Everton will match this bid from Leeds unless a buyer is found for Beto.

Fenerbahce bid for Beto on Friday – according to reports in Turkey – with his agent flying to Istanbul to hold talks with the Super Lig giants.

However, Everton have demanded €20m (£17m) for the Guinea-Bissau international, which has put Fenerbahce off.

If The Friedkin Group receive that sum for Beto, we believe it could be swiftly reinvested into finding a new challenger for Thierno Barry – who David Moyes has warned despite his recent improvement.
