Paul Scholes thinks he's been proven absolutely right after what he said about Matheus Cunha at Man Utd

Paul Scholes has been in the news recently for all the wrong reasons after his criticism of Manchester United’s Lisandro Martinez, and now he’s being reminded of what he said about Matheus Cunha.

After his comments on Lisandro Martinez, Manchester United fans have ridiculed Paul Scholes, with the criticism less constructive and more bullying.

After the backlash, Scholes has admitted his regret, yet failed to apologise to the World Cup-winning Argentine.

More recently, Scholes has claimed that Michael Carrick winning games is an issue, as it might end with him becoming permanent manager, which wouldn’t be a problem if he proves himself.

Now, Scholes has discussed Matheus Cunha.

Paul Scholes thinks he was right to pick Matheus Cunha among the signings of the season

Scholes rarely holds back with his opinions, which can often be a bad thing, and his verdict on Cunha was no different last summer.

Prior to the signing, Scholes admitted being concerned by Cunha.

However, The Overlap has now revealed that Scholes actually picked Cunha or Bryan Mbeumo to be the Premier League signing of the season.

When confronted with this, Scholes was asked to stick or twist with his prediction, and he doubled down on Cunha and Mbeumo.

“They’ve both been alright, them two haven’t they? I’ll stick with that.”

This is a glowing endorsement from Scholes, who has rarely allowed himself to praise the Red Devils recently.

The best of Matheus Cunha is still to come at Manchester United

Scholes backing Cunha as a success so far might surprise rival fans, as for those who don’t watch games, he has struggled based on numbers.

However, Cunha has performed to a very high level all season long, without getting the rewards.

But in his last 10 games, Cunha has three goals and two assists, which is a very good return considering the period involved a sacking, an interim and then he spent the derby on the bench.

United will not see the very best version of Cunha until next season, but when he finds his place and learns the system, there could be no stopping the Brazilian in his prime.
