Manchester United have been relatively quiet in the January transfer window, with just over a week left for deals to be finalised.
That said, the Red Devils have been linked with several players this month. Michael Carrick appears to be focusing on building cohesion within his existing squad -rather than seeking reinforcements in the market - despite certain areas of the pitch needing attention.
Casemiro is set to depart his current club at the end of the season, while an ageing defence featuring England pair Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw has also sparked debate. With all this in mind, The Daily Star delves into some of the latest players rumoured to be on United's radar, although these moves are more likely to materialise in the summer rather than this month...
Elliot Anderson setback
United have reportedly shown interest in Nottingham Forest star Elliot Anderson as an alternative to Carlos Baleba, after failing to secure the £100million Brighton star last summer. However, it seems the midfielder might be heading to Manchester City instead.
Goal.com reports that United have "conceded" that Anderson prefers a transfer to the Etihad Stadium over Old Trafford. Forest are insistent that the 23-year-old will not leave this month, and are expected to demand around £100m for his departure in the summer.

A report from the I, meanwhile, states: "There's a growing belief Anderson would snub United for a move to rivals Manchester City." If accurate, this would deliver another crushing blow to the Premier League giants, who already lost out on Antoine Semenyo to their neighbours earlier this month.
Cole Palmer stance
Liam Rosenior has insisted that Cole Palmer remains happy at Chelsea, despite speculation that he's unsettled in west London and was looking for a return to Manchester. The head coach said: "I've had numerous conversations with Cole and he seems very happy to be here.
"He's a huge part in our long-term plans. And my job and the club's job is to get him into a situation where he can consistently perform to the level he wants to.

"There was frustration in the Brentford game. We need to look after him and that's why I didn't involve him in the last game."
The England international, now 23, has been outstanding for the Blues since his 2023 switch from Manchester City to Stamford Bridge, netting 48 goals and providing 29 assists across 110 appearances.
LA Galaxy interest
Casemiro confirmed earlier this week that he will depart United this summer - when his contract runs out. While his footballing future beyond the coming months remains unclear, reports suggest that LA Galaxy could look to secure his signature as a free agent.
Meanwhile, teams in Saudi Arabia and Brazil have, also, been touted as potential destinations for the 33-year-old midfielder. It follows Casemiro's announcement of his departure at the end of the season.
