Man Utd ready to smash club-record to sign 'superstar' in £120m deal, he's their new top target …

Manchester United have made Chelsea star Cole Palmer their top target for the summer transfer window and are ready to pay £120m to get a deal done, according to Fichajes.

The Reds have had a mixed season so far and are currently in a battle to qualify for next season's Champions League via their Premier League finish, and sit 5th in the table ahead of Sunday's clash with league leaders Arsenal.

While the January transfer window is still open and the club are open to any opportunities that may arise, INEOS are already turning their attention to the summer, and they have now made their mind up on who their priority signing will be.

Man Utd Ready Club-Record Bid for Palmer

Cole Palmer

Palmer, who has been described as a 'superstar' and is considered to be one of the best attacking midfielders in the world, is known to be a childhood Man Utd fan, despite coming through the Man City academy as a youngster.

It's reported that the England international has grown disillusioned with life in London and was unhappy when Chelsea decided to sack Enzo Maresca, which has sparked question marks over his future.

Now Man Utd are ready to try and test their resolve this summer by tabling a club-record £120m bid to sign him, and add him to a star-studded attack that already contains the likes of Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, Bruno Fernandes and Benjamin Sesko.

The deal will be in part funded by the fact that Casemiro is now confirmed to leave at the end of his contract, which will see his huge wages taken off the books, and the 23-year-old's connection to Old Trafford means that a deal is seen as viable.

However, GIVEMESPORT understands that Chelsea view Palmer as 'untouchable' and they have no plans to sell their star forward.

Palmer to Replace Fernandes?

While Fernandes is the main man at Old Trafford currently, there is speculation that he could be on the move in the summer.

The Portugal international will be 32 and entering the final year of his contract with the club, and it's understood there is strong interest from Saudi Arabia once again to take him to the Middle East in a 'historic deal'.

United won't want to lose him, but if they receive an offer they can't refuse and Fernandes is open to the move, and they can then replace him with Palmer, then it may well be a no-brainer for all involved.
