Everton fans are currently hoping to see some late transfer deals, but time is running out.
The January window is closing in a week, and the Toffees still haven’t signed any new players.
It’s also a tough window to operate in. But so far Everton have not had much luck, although the club have been operating cautiously, as it’s been suggested they don’t see a huge amount of value in the window.
Undoubtedly, Everton will be much busier in the summer – and there have already been some links to players for that window.

And one player Everton were linked with earlier this week was Harry Maguire, whose contract is up at the end of the season.
Maguire could well be on the move and Everton may actually have a trump card to play as other clubs circle the defender.
Harry Maguire could link up with ‘best friend’ Jordan Pickford at Everton
It has not been uncommon for Everton to sign players with an affiliation with Manchester United, having landed the likes of Tim Howard, Phil Neville, Marouane Fellaini and Louis Saha previously.

Maguire could well be another who heads to Merseyside having been in Manchester – and it’s possible that the presence of Jordan Pickford could help Everton in any pursuit.

What some people may not know is that Pickford stated a few years ago that Maguire was his best friend in football.
In a TikTok video for Goal Global, he said: “My best friend in football? I’ve got a few to be honest. I’d say Harry Maguire is up there as my best friend, yeah.
“He probably doesn’t know, but I used to play against him when we were kids. He used to be the year above me for Sheffield United and I got to know him well in the England set up so, yeah. I’ve got loads of good mates in football, but I’d say Harry.”
Maguire would be a great free signing for Everton
It will be intriguing to see if Everton put themselves in the race to sign Maguire this summer.
Several clubs, including Chelsea and Bournemouth, are already positioning themselves to swoop, so it may not be easy.
But Pickford being Maguire’s best friend might just be something that gives Everton a chance.
There is also the geography to consider, with Maguire having been settled in Manchester for years – Merseyside would likely not be too much upheaval for the 32-year-old.
Getting Maguire – who Moyes has admired previously – on a free would potentially be a very good move by Everton.

Yes, he’s had his critics over the years at United. But in more recent times he’s actually improved a lot.
At Everton, he would likely suit the style of play under Moyes as there is rarely ever a high line. He’s got a goal in him, having netted 17 times in 257 games for United.
Everton have always had goalscoring defenders, so a move for Maguire would be in keeping with tradition.
