Michael Carrick has defied all odds to win his first two matches as Manchester United’s interim head coach.
In the space of a week, Michael Carrick has beaten Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City and now Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal in the Premier League.
The Red Devils have climbed up to fourth in the table after winning 3-2 against Arsenal on Sunday afternoon.

“Michael [Carrick] has come in, and he’s been brilliant with us. He’s brought fresh energy, and the group has really galvanised,” Maguire said.
“Obviously, two tough games [City and Arsenal], everyone probably thought we would come away from them with not many points, but we won both of them.”
Michael Carrick could leave Ineos with no choice
Last week, Lisandro Martinez piled praise on Carrick and his backroom staff for their impact on the squad, and now Maguire has echoed those statements.
What has become blindingly clear is that this squad is very much playing for Carrick and they believe in his game plan.

Against the top two teams in the Premier League this season, United were deserved winners in both games, and Carrick got his tactics spot on.
While there are as many as 12 manager options for Ineos in the summer, Carrick may leave United’s hierarchy with no choice but to give him a permanent contract at this rate.
