Man Utd star is worth every penny to Michael Carrick after moment Roy Keane said was 'fantastic' - Opinion

Michael Carrick couldn’t hide his joy at Manchester United beating Arsenal 3-2 on Sunday, continuing his 100 per cent record, with one player proving his worth.

The current Premier League leaders looked like a shell of themselves as Manchester United ran straight through Mikel Arteta’s side in a thrilling win.

United departed the Emirates with a 3-2 win, three points, and finally a move into the top four, a big step forward in the Champions League football race.

Once again, Michael Carrick saw his United players perform to their best, which was enough to defeat the Gunners without really leaving second gear.

In particular, there was one United player who made the most of his time on the pitch, proving his worth.

Matheus Cunha is worth every penny to Manchester United

There was a degree of shock when Matheus Cunha once again found himself on the bench for United; however, he was incredible in his cameo.

Cunha was immense as a substitute against City, grabbing an assist for the second goal in the derby win.

Carrick brought Cunha off the bench again against Arsenal, and he was similarly impactful and brilliant as he scored the winning goal with an absolute peach of an effort from outside the box, curling into the bottom corner.

The Brazilian isn’t happy being on the bench, and his performances in both cameos have shown Carrick that he needs to find a place for him against Fulham.

Cunha cost United just £62.5m in the summer, which looked steep originally, but this moment alone shows that he is worth every penny for Carrick.

Cunha has four goals and two assists in his last 10 games, which is a record that proves he has been a successful signing.

Roy Keane praised Matheus Cunha after a stunning winner

The goal clearly meant a lot to Cunha, as he screamed into the camera amidst his celebration, and after the game, he told Sky Sports how much it meant to him.

“These are the kind of games we dream of playing. It means everything!”

Cunha was the happiest man on that pitch to have scored the winner, and his goal even drew praise from the rarely impressed Roy Keane.

“That goal was absolutely fantastic. Brilliant goal…”, Keane admitted while doing punditry for Sky Sports.

Cunha is way too good for United to only be using him for 20 minutes per game, and we would assume that Carrick plans to start the Brazilian against Fulham next week, with Patrick Dorgu potentially injured and the likelihood of the visitors parking the bus.
